Drilling started at Tintina bet

A $600,000 work program for this year at Tintina Mines’ silver property at Watson Lake in the Yukon is under way, the company having recently secured the funding by way of a private placement of flow- through shares.

About 6,000 ft of drilling is to be completed by late August in addition to mapping and trenching. President C. H. Franklin reports that the main objective is to establish controls for the silver-lead-zinc mineralization previously documented, with particular attention to be paid to the gold mineralization discovered in 1984.

Work completed in 1984, Mr Franklin reports, suggests the property’s mineralization has considerably greater tonnage potential than previously envisaged.

Meanwhile, field work is also planned for Tintina’s Massey property located west of Sudbury, Ont., where geological reserves of about four million tons of high purity silica flux, grading 86.08% free silica, were outlined earlier this year hosted in a shear zone. These reserves are open, Mr Franklin reports, and at least 20% are expected to also contain 0.16% copper in addition to localized silver-bearing pods which have not yet been fully assessed.

The property is under option to Canacord Resources, which is funding an exploration program this year on the property expected to cost $150,000.
