Drilling starts on Santa Maria’s Pickle Lake bet

Having recently completed a private placement of flow-through shares providing the company with $460,000 for exploration purposes, Santa Mar ia Resources has contracted for an initial 5,000 ft drill program on its Pickle Lake gold property adjoining the St. Joe Gold project in northwestern Ontario.

An airborne geophysical survey and ground magnetometer and VLF surveys have already been carried out, in addition to geological mapping and geochemical sampling. This work has turned up anomalous gold values providing numerous drill targets, reports President G. G. Plaskett, who adds that several massive sulphide zones associated with iron formation are known.

The company is also starting surface exploration on a second gold project. This is a 45-claim group in the Opapimiskan Lake area 40 miles north of Pickle Lake. This adjoins a property on which a consortium headed by Dome Mines recently reported a new gold discovery.
