Drills turn at Slaven Canyon

Operator Uranerz Exploration & Mining has started a 3,000-ft. program of reverse-circulation drilling on its Slaven Canyon South property in Nevada’s Battle Mountain-Eureka gold trend.

The property belongs to a joint venture consisting of Uranerz, Takla Star Resources (ASE) and Fairstar Explorations (ME).

The program follows up the discovery of a new gold prospect at Slaven Canyon South, which indicates the presence of an extensive, quartzite-hosted mineralized system 13 miles north of the 8-million-plus-ounce Pipeline deposits of Placer Dome (TSE).

To date, 26 shallow, reverse-circulation drill holes have been completed. Of these, 23 have gold intersections of up to 25 ft. grading 0.047 oz. per ton. The zone remains open, and preliminary work has indicated good gold recovery characteristics.
