Eastmain, Soquem find more gold at Clearwater

Partners Eastmain Resources (ER-T) and Quebec government-owned Soquem have discovered three more gold-bearing veins at their Clearwater (Eau Claire) gold project in the Eastmain River greenstone belt of Quebec’s James Bay region.

The veins — named P, O and Q — were found during a program of surface stripping.

Channel sampling in the 130-metre-long P vein produced gold grades ranging from 17.5 to 220 grams gold per tonne over widths of 0.4 to 2.4 metres, giving an average uncut grade of 12.21 grams gold across a minimum width of 2 metres.

The O and Q veins, 15 metres north of vein P, yielded 64.32 grams gold over 2 metres and 24.31 grams gold over 1.7 metres. Toward the east, the two veins swell into a 10.5-metre-wide tourmaline zone grading 3.9 grams gold. All three veins remain open to the west.

The better-known J vein, 5 metres north of O and Q, contains a drill-indicated resource of 400,000 tonnes grading an uncut 10.03 grams gold. Stripping has now exposed the J vein over a length of 80 metres.

In September, Eastmain struck a deal with Stratabound Minerals (SB-A) to mine the latter’s Captain North Extension base metal deposit situated northeast of Eastmain’s Railroad property in New Brunswick’s Bathurst camp.
