Eastmaque to produce

The commissioning of a tailings reclamation project by Eastmaque Gold Mines is expected to start in December, the company says. The project will process gold mine tailings in the Kirkland Lake, Ont., camp.

A dredge was moved to the site last summer and pumped its first tailings to the mill site in November. At the Cargo Muchacho gold project in California, Eastmaque has filed applications for mine permitting. These permits, which were approved in September, allow the company to move the project from a 200,000-ton bulk test to full scale production. Production from the heap leach operation was 3,066 oz of gold during the first quarter of the company’s fiscal year. This will be accelerated to 2,000 oz per month by late this year.
