The Northern Miner, now moving into its 72nd year of publication, is a venerable institution, but not an old one.
It is not old, that is, in its outlook and attitudes. It is for instance keeping up with new advances in communications techniques and technology. A prime example of this is the paper’s new link with the computer-age Info Globe information service of Canada’s national newspaper, The Globe and Mail.
As already announced, The Northern Miner has now gone on-line with Info Globe, which means that anyone with access to a computer terminal, word processor or personal computer can, through Info Globe, search all of the articles that have appeared in this paper, and in The Northern Miner Magazine, since September of 1986. That will apply of course to all future issues of both.
It goes without saying that for subscribers to Info Globe the connection opens up a tremendous wealth of information on the mining industry — information of the kind and breadth that only The Northern Miner has been able to provide over its long and impressive history. The paper will continue to be the unrivalled source of important news on the mining industry.
We welcome the link with The Globe and Mail. It should prove beneficial for both parties, their readers and subscribers.
