A new base metal zone has been outlined on the Wekusko Lake project near Snow Lake, Man.
European Ventures (VSE) reports that nine holes, totaling 1,309 metres, were drilled to test seven targets. One hole, drilled into the footwall of a previously known ore zone, intersected 3.13% copper and 4.88% zinc over 6.85 metres at a depth of 66 metres. A second zone, 40 metres below the first, graded 0.4% and 3.3% zinc over 7.6 metres.
European Chairman Michael Muzylowski says the company will carry out a down-the-hole pulse electromagnetic survey to evaluate the geometry of the new zone. “Our preliminary thoughts are that this is the down-plunge extension of the Copper Man deposit, which was discovered in the late 1920s,” Muzylowski says.
Reserves established as a result of earlier drilling are believed to be in the range of 150,000 tonnes grading 3.08% copper and 3.08% zinc. A second zone has 11,550 tonnes of 1.88% copper and 15.2% zinc.
More drilling is planned, to assess the structure further.
