Simon Lawrence, president and chief executive of Gold Eagle Mines (GEA-T), will present a talk titled “Red Lake: History repeats itself,” at the next luncheon meeting of the Toronto branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
The meeting is slated for Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at the Ontario Club.
Gold Eagle owns its namesake project in northwestern Ontario’s Red Lake camp. The company was formed recently through the merger of Exall Resources and Southern Star Resources.
Situated at the western end of the prolific Red Lake trend, the Gold Eagle project was once a small, shallow producing mine during the early 1900s but mining had long since ceased.
The project found its way back into the spotlight in 2005 with the discovery of the Western Discovery zone. And on the heels of that find came another: the promising high-grade Bruce Channel zone.
The Bruce Channel mineralized envelope measures 450 by 615 metres and so far extends 1,100 metres below surface. It remains open in all directions, and Gold Eagle continues to drill it.
The Red Lake trend, undoubtedly one of the world’s great gold camps, has given rise to a number of gold companies, the biggest of which is Goldcorp (G-T, G-N).
Situated at the western end of this prolific Red Lake trend, the Gold Eagle Project has the potential to host one or more mines.
Lawrence will discuss his company’s efforts to find Red Lake’s next gold mine.
