EXPLORATION 1998 — Drilling starts at Timmins West

A drill program by Prospectors Alliance (PALL-C) is testing several deep geophysical targets at the Timmins West gold property in northeastern Ontario.

Most of these targets lie within a regional break or deformation zone, where previous overburden drill holes encountered gold mineralization in overlying glacial tills.

Prospectors Alliance is also exploring for base metals in the Timmins district with partners Falconbridge (FL-N) and International Larder Minerals (LRDR-C). The new Kamiskotia joint venture (50% Falco, 25% each for the juniors) holds mineral rights to about 8,000 acres in 15 “township areas of interest.” The land package, which covers the southwestern extension of the Kidd Creek rhyolite complex, was formed when the parties pooled their claims and staked new ground in the area.

The initial program will entail surface geophysical surveys and diamond drilling in priority areas, as well as deep-penetrating airborne geophysical surveys using technology to allow prospecting of the favorable volcanic belts to previously unexplored depths.

Prospectors Alliance recently raised $800,000 to fund its 1998 exploration programs. The junior has been exploring the Savant Lake area in northwestern Ontario, where a winter drill program to test the Staunton Lake property was recently completed. All seven holes intersected anomalous base metal mineralization over wide widths. A summer prospecting program is expected to test the ocurrence along strike. This will be followed by deeper drilling.

Prospectors Alliance plans to carry out more work at the Alder Pond property in northern Maine once partner International Larder completes a reorganization and financing. At last report, the project hosted a resource of 560,000 tonnes averaging 2.2% copper, 9% zinc, 0.5% lead and 3 oz. silver per ton, accessible by underground ramp.
