Toronto-based Laramide Resources (LAM-T) has joined the rush to acquire ground in Zacatecas state, Mexico. Spurred by the success of partners Teck and Western Copper at San Nicolas (see story, page E15), Laramide signed an agreement to acquire about 7,1000 ha of claims situated 10 km from this recent massive-sulphide discovery.
Laramide says its Bilbao property contains a measured
zinc-lead-copper-silver resource that was mined for lead during and after the First World War. The property has never been subjected to a drilling program, but is believed to have potential for open-pit reserves above the old workings, as well as new base metal and silver discoveries. To earn up to a 75% interest in the project, Laramide must pay US$2.5 million in cash and shares over a 34-month period.
