EXPLORATION 1998 — Republic to sell Congress

Toronto-based Republic Goldfields (RGF-V) has agreed to sell its Congress gold project and related assets to an undisclosed purchaser for the bargain-basement price of US$250,000. The Congress property is situated near Wickenburg, Ariz. In the late 1980s, Republic attempted to place the former producer back into production. The underground mine did not perform as expected, however, and mining was suspended a short time later.
