EXPLORATION ’99 – RARE METAL EXPLORATION ROUNDUP — Uganda Gold explores for tantalum

Vancouver-based Uganda Gold Mining (UGM-A) has signed a preliminary option agreement with Ugandan-based Shinda to explore and develop the Nyanga tantalite deposit in western Uganda.

The high-grade deposit was previously mined by hand before it was shut down in 1967.

Uganda Gold plans to determine the grade and tonnage of the mine and related tailings dumps.

Mining could resume at Nyanga within six months at a relatively low capital cost, the company says.
