Exploration at the Benso concession in Ghana has led to the discovery of a new gold zone, reports Fairstar Explorations (FFR-T).
Following completion of an initial, 15-hole diamond drilling program, Fairstar hit a new gold zone extending over 2.5 km at the Subriso East prospect, within the 150-sq.-km Benso concession.
Among the best assay results from the new zone were: 3 metres of 4.43 grams gold per tonne starting at 104.55 metres below surface and 1 metre of 6.32 grams gold at a depth of 266.35 metres in hole 97-2; 1 metre of 4.44 grams gold starting at 48 metres below surface and 1 metre of 27.13 grams at 126.8 metres down in hole 97-6; 3 metres of 4.2 grams gold encountered 147 metres below surface in hole 97-7; 5 metres of 5.18 grams 242 metres below surface in hole 97-8; 2.2 metres of 4.04 grams gold 214.3 metres down in hole 97-10; and 1 metre of 5.1 grams gold at a depth of 140 metres and 7 metres of 8.45 grams gold at a depth of 154 metres in hole 97-11.
Meanwhile, Fairstar has outlined an additional gold zone, referred to as the Subriso West prospect, 1.5 km west of Subriso East. The zone strikes north-south and extends over a distance of about 2 km. Fairstar has completed four diamond drill holes, comprising 1,200 metres, to test this zone, which was recently outlined by geophysical and geochemical surveys.
