Junior Fancamp Resources (VSE) has acquired a 34-claim copper property at Baie-Johan-Beetz, near Havre-St. Pierre on Quebec’s northern shore.
The company is looking for large-tonnage copper mineralization hosted in quartzites of the Wakeham group. According to Fancamp President Peter Smith, Baie-Johan-Beetz has never before been explored for this type of mineralization, and the area seems to be geologically similar to the Zambian copper belt.
The initial discovery was from a 1.5-metre-long mineralized and boudinaged quartz vein at the contact between quartzites and an upper amphibolite grade schist. Grab samples assayed up to 18.2% copper, 1.85 grams gold and 32 grams silver per tonne.
Fancamp acquired the property for $90,000, payable over four years, and by issuing a 2% net smelter return royalty to the vendor (1.5% of which can be bought back for $1 million).
Fancamp is carrying out mapping and sampling on the property, and is also acquiring additional ground.
