A new structural model drawn at Windfall Lake, in northwestern Quebec, seems to be holding up for
Fury can earn a 37.5% interest in the property, which covers 534 ha (5.3 sq. km) of Urban twp., about 500 metres north of the Urban Barry shear zone. The vendor,
In 1996 and 1997, Alto and Noront sunk 13 holes around the Alto showing, pulling up as much as 57 grams gold per tonne over a metre. High tenors of base metals were reported as well, which had the effect of attracting
In mid-2002, Alto dealt Fury an option, and a subsequent reinterpretation of the old data suggested mineralization was controlled by northwesterly structures, which would explain why none of the intersections lined up. Drilling by Fury has since added weight to the theory by discovering the so-called A and B zones.
Grades in Zone A varied from just over a gram to 204.77 grams, plus a third of a gram to 5.97 grams silver. Mineralized intersections range from 1 metre, from which the highest grades were obtained, to 30.24 metres.
The best result from Zone B was 19.53 grams gold and 0.57 gram silver over 2.7 metres. The interval, pulled from hole 3, came from a 6-metre section of core that averaged 8.9 grams gold and 0.26 gram silver.
To date, six holes have pulled significant results from the A zone, and three holes have pulled significant results from the B zone. Although still at an early stage of exploration, each zone is believed to strike for 600 metres, and both are characterized by narrow but high tenors of gold in wider but lower-grading envelops.
Results from 11 holes are pending.
Meanwhile,
Drilling in the 1980s outlined several gold zones on the property, of which the two most promissing were 17 and 18. Upwards of 27.5 grams over 3 metres was pulled from the former and as much as 43 grams over 1 metre from the latter.
Mineralization is associated with silicification in a carbonatized shear zone. Several cross-cutting structures are said to have yielded strong values as well, echoing calls from Fury.
Beaufield also owns 327 adjoining claims.
Line-cutting is under way in preparation for magnetic and induced polarization surveying.
Drilling will follow.
