With the latest phase of drilling on its property near Matheson, Ont., complete, Glimmer Resources (VSE) says mineralization has been extended 100 metres along strike.
Hole 91-60, which picked up the eastern extension of the favorable ultramafic-mafic contact, intersected a narrow (10-15-cm) quartz-ankerite vein carrying native gold and assaying 3.55 oz. gold per ton. Assay results from other samples in the hole are pending.
The contact has been offset to a position 100 metres north of its anticipated extension by a north-south trending fault.
Some of the other holes drilled as part of the 8-hole program were interrupted by diabase dykes, preventing operator Noranda Exploration from fully testing the intended strike length, said Glimmer President George Kent. Assay results from some of these holes will also be released shortly. Based on Glimmer’s calculations, the Beatty-Hislop prospect hosts preliminary reserves of 983,977 tonnes grading 11.6 grams (0.34 oz.) gold per tonne. Joint venture partner Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) has a 60% interest in the project.
