Trenching by Hyder Gold (HGI-V) has uncovered gold mineralization at its Kampti exploration permit in southwestern Burkina Faso.
The trenches tested a north-south-trending gold-in-soil anomaly at the northern end of the 500-sq.-km property. Five trenches were dug across the zone, into underlying bedrock. The lengths of the trenches varied from 30 to 470 metres, and cover a total strike length of 500 metres.
Gold values varied from 0.97 to 40.5 grams gold per tonne over intervals of 2 to 22 metres.
Trenching results include:
* three separate intervals of 1.07 grams over 5.4 metres, 0.97 gram over 10 metres and 1.11 grams over 10 metres in trench 7;
* five separate zones, including 1.15 grams over 22 metres, 2.54 grams over 14 metres and 2.43 grams over 6 metres, in trench 13;
* significant intervals of 19 metres averaging 1.08 grams and 10 metres averaging 1.97 grams in trenches 4 and 5, respectively; and
* three separate zones of 5.7 grams over 4 metres, 40.5 grams over 2 metres and 2.97 grams over 10 metres in trench 14.
Hyder reports that values between intervals in individual trenches were anomalous, albeit negligible when compared with those listed above.
Geologically, the area is underlain by a sequence of altered and sheared mafic volcanics that have been intruded by numerous small dioritic bodies.
Gold mineralization is associated with shear zones and quartz veins lying adjacent to the intrusions.
The company has scheduled additional surface work for early next year.
