Toronto-based Menora Resources (MEN-M) is stepping up its exploration efforts in Yemen.
In addition to completing a drill program at the Tassawini gold property, the country has launched a reconnaissance field program on the Ghabar licence and is about to start underground drilling at the Medden gold deposit.
At Tassawini, 920 holes were drilled to an average depth of 7 metres. Based on results to date, Menora says it has outlined at least four sub-parallel, northeast-trending gold-arsenic zones with strike lengths ranging from 450 to 750 metres. The widths of the gold mineralization will be reported once the results are in hand.
The underground program at Medden will include 4,500 metres of drilling. An adit is being rehabilitated, and, once this is completed, the drilling will begin. At last report, the measured resource was estimated to be at least 650,000 tons grading 0.43 oz. gold per ton.
The reconnaissance program at Ghabar focused on locating known gold occurrences, confirming the nature of the mineralization, and resampling. A report is expected shortly.
Menora also is exploring five gold properties in north-central Peru, as well as a diamond project in Botswana.
