Though best known for its silver projects in the United States and Argentina, Sunshine Mining & Refining (SSC-N) is busy exploring a new gold property in Chubut province of southern Argentina.
The gold-bearing veins outcropping on surface were tested in the initial program. This work identified a near-surface resource of 2 million tons grading an average of 0.2 oz. gold per ton (or about 400,000 contained ounces) plus about 1 million oz silver.
The Idaho-based company says “significant upside” exists in the deeper extensions of two of the three veins initially studied and in other outcropping veins found on the property.
“The property is exciting not only for its high gold values, but also because it appears to be relatively easy to put into production and has excellent infrastructure,” the company notes.
