Quebec has earned an enviable international reputation as a top spot for mining and exploration. Part of that is its prospective geology — the province accounts for more than a third of Canada’s gold production and it’s the centre of a new Canadian lithium boom.
Mining friendly policies and provincial agencies that support exploration and development are another reason for Quebec’s success.
In a panel at The Northern Miner’s Q2 Global Mining Symposium, Amyot Choquette, senior director of investment at Resources Quebec, and Paul Carmel, president and CEO of Sidex, explained the funding available to mining and exploration companies and why the Quebec advantage is hard for other jurisdictions to replicate.
The discussion took place at the TMX Market Centre in Toronto on May 25 and was moderated by Northern Miner Senior Staff Writer Colin McClelland.
