A 22-hole diamond drill program totalling 6,750 ft has been completed on the Golden Grove flake graphite deposit located northeast of Saint John, N.B., by Vancouver- listed Glenvet Resources.
The drilling identified two significant en echelon graphite zones in a deposit that is steeply dipping and remains open at depth, the company says. Mining of a bulk sample has started with processing slated shortly in Saint John.
Petrographic examination of the company’s graphite material by the Research Productivity Council (RPC) suggests 90% of the graphite is classed as fine flakes with the remainder in the medium to lower range of coarse classification. Metallurgical and pilot plant testing is now under way with a view to mining initial tonnage from surface, the company says.
At the company’s optioned 22- claim Millican Lake gold bet southeast of Saint John, approximately 4,300 ft of drilling was completed in 13 holes encountering minor gold values along with zones of intense alteration. The company’s consultants have recommended a more detailed follow-up exploration program and planning is now under way.
