Gold bars go missing

The management team of Harmony Gold Mining was more than a little puzzled after two 1-oz. gold bars went missing at a presentation of the company’s quarterly results in late April.

The case of five gold bars, hallmarked with the Harmony logo, were passed around during the presentation but returned to the owners with two bars missing.

Suspecting a hoax, management waited for the bars to be returned but they failed to surface. A company spokesperson said they were still missing at presstime.

The bars were valued at US$308.20 each at press time.
