Gold thieves still sought

At presstime, Ontario and Quebec Provincial police had still not caught up with the thieves who some weeks ago robbed the Virginiatown, Ont. gold mine of Golden Shield Resources.

The bandits made off with a gold bar worth approximately $300,000.

A special investigative squad of five officers is continuing to work on the case, Superintendent J. P. Crozier, criminal investigation branch of the Ontario Provincial Police, told The Northern Miner.

Members of the Val d’Or, Quebec police force are involved in the investigation, he said, along with OPP and QPP officers.
