Goldbelt Resources (GDB-V) has delineated four new drill targets on its exploration licences in northeastern Kazakstan.
The discoveries, outlined below, resulted from a 47.2-line-km geophysical program consisting of induced-polarization, resistivity and magnetic surveys.
The program was preceded by regional and district mapping.
* Northeast Abyz — This blind anomoaly was located 6 km northeast of the Abyz volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit, which is estimated to contain 4.4 million tonnes grading 6.5 grams gold and 62 grams silver per tonne, as well as 2.1% copper and 5.3% zinc.
n Bypak — Geologists believe this 6-sq.-km zone of silicification and quartz-sericite-potassic alteration in Permian volcanics is the upper portion of a copper-molybdenum porphyry system.
* Majozek — This 2-km quartz-iron carbonate altered zone is associated with a northeast-trending shear zone.
* Baigustam massive sulphide — This open-ended anomaly, measuring 600 metres long, was detected 30 km northeast of the previously mined Maikain volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit.
The company is seeking a joint-venture partnership so that it can continue exploring these and other targets.
