The claims cover a northeast extension of the anorthosite complex which hosts the McNickel prospect, 13 miles to the south.
The companies report they have decided not to proceed with the optioning of a 32-claim property which was the subject of an earlier announcement. That property is also located near Lac St. Jean.
Tarzan president Robert Middleton said a ground geophysical survey grid has been completed on another 106-claim property held by Tarzan Gold, Glen Auden and Cross Lake Minerals (VSE).
One conductor, believed to be caused by massive sulphides, has been traced for 400 m (1,300 ft) with true widths in excess of 37.5 m (120 ft), he said. Disseminated sulphides that tested positive for nickel have been found in outcrops of brecciated anorthositic gabbro north of the conductor. The zone is covered by gravel-sand overburden which may be thin enough to allow backhoe trenching.
Electromagnetic surveys suggest a parallel conductor also occurs on the property. A program of test pit- trenching is planned prior to the start of diamond drilling, said Middleton.
