A drilling program was recently started on the Dunkin mine gold property located 40 miles northeast of Red Lake in northwestern Ontario, Golden Hat Resources of Winnipeg reports.
Underground development, including a 2-compartment shaft and two levels of crosscutting and drifting, was previously undertaken on the property.
Proposed in the new exploration plan is five or six short drill holes to test the subsurface width and grade of the No 1 vein and No 2 copper zone.
Chip sampling of the No 2 copper zone during August returned 0.2 oz gold per ton over 10 ft in the east trench and 0.28 oz over 15 ft in the west trench. Additional grab samples from the No 1 vein returned 0.28 oz, 1.64 oz, 0.02 oz and 0.1 oz.
Golden Hat also reports it is negotiating to acquire a group of 31 claims in the Woman Lake area of the Birch Lake greenstone belt, 50 miles northeast of Red Lake.
