Golden Star in Suriname deal (May 25, 1992)

A formal exploration and development agreement for the Gross Rosebel gold property in Suriname has been signed between Golden Star Resources (TSE) and Grassalco, the state-owned aluminum mining company.

A work program calls for expenditures of US$8 million during a 5-year period. The initial phase will involve surface work, with drilling planned for later this year.

The property is about 50 miles south of the South American nation’s capital city, Paramaribo.
