Goldrush hits gold in Burkina Faso

Vancouver — Goldrush Resources (GOD-V, GDRRF-O) is finding gold at its Ronguen project, in Burkina Faso.

The latest drill results are the first from a 59-hole reverse-circulation (RC) drill program designed to provide data for a resource calculation as well as testing the continuity between the Main zone and the recently discovered South zone.

Hole 18 intersected 15 metres grading 7.41 grams gold per tonne starting 67 metres down-hole, including 4 metres of 24.8 grams gold. Hole 16 returned 23 metres grading 1.61 grams gold, and hole 13 hit 1.63 grams gold over 20 metres.

The Ronguen gold occurrence is a 2-km-long east-west-trending area where gold is in quartz veining and stockworks hosted in metasedimentary rocks. The area has been exploited by artisanal miners.

Goldrush acquired the property in early 2006 as part of a deal with High River Gold Mines (HRG-T, HRIVF-O) that saw Goldrush take over 21 exploration permits in Burkina Faso. In return for a 90% interest in the properties, Goldrush issued more than 6.5 million common shares and a debenture in the principal amount of nearly $2 million to High River. High River holds 12% of Goldrush.

Since then, Goldrush has completed more than 11,000 metres of rotary air blast (RAB) and RC drilling, which have defined three areas of mineralization: the Main zone, the Artisanal zone, and the South zone.

Ronguen has become Goldrush’s flagship project. The site is only 6 km from High River’s advanced exploration-stage Bissa project, which hosts a measured and indicated resource of 12 million tonnes grading 1.72 grams gold for 662,250 oz. and an additional inferred resource of 16.4 million tonnes grading 1.29 grams for 679,470 oz., using a 0.5-gram gold per tonne cutoff. Through an agreement with High River, Goldrush has preferential access to a mill built at Bissa, which would reduce the costs of developing an open-pit operation at Ronguen.
