At a recent meeting, directors of Goldteck Mines unanimously approved a decision to advance to feasibility the Bellview gold project in White Pine Cty., Nev. A feasibility study, financed 100% by Goldteck and prepared by an independent consultant, is expected to be completed in March. A decision to develop the property into a modest-sized heap leach mining operation is anticipated at that time. If a positive decision is made, development costs would be financed 60% by Goldteck and 40% by Rochester Minerals (VSE).
Geological reserves at the property are reported as 905,000 tons averaging 0.039 oz. gold per ton based on 110 drill holes from programs since 1984 to the latest drilling by Teck (TSE) in 1989. Teck is reported to have stated that additional reserves could be defined with infill drilling.
Rochester said updated results of 5-column leach tests indicate that the Bellview reserves should be readily amenable to heap leaching, with very rapid dissolution rates. The weighted recovery obtained from a recently completed 60-day column leach test is reported by Goldteck to have averaged 89%, “an exceptionally favorable result.”
In a separate venture, Goldteck is exploring placer gold deposits in Chile. The company’s Matachewan tailings project in Ontario is in the final stages of testing, and a decision whether to proceed to feasibility is expected shortly.
