Gowest, Texmont drilling Tully find

Plans for the program have been sparked by a deep hole which cut two mineralized tuff horizons. The hole (89-3) was designed to test a stratabound structure known as the Frankfield zone, which straddles the border of ground held by Intex Mining (ASE) (64%) and Frankfield Exploration (ASE) (36%), and a separate 14-claim property shared equally by Gowest and New Texmont.

Commencing at 1,833 ft, 25.4 ft ran 0.159 oz gold of which 11.8 ft averaged 0.279 oz. At 1,979 ft it cut 74.3 ft of 0.159 oz of which 21 ft averaged 0.311 oz, said Frankfield President Stanley Hawkins.

“We have found an important looking structure that will require a lot of drilling,” said Hawkins, who expects the size of the follow-up program to be determined in two weeks. Results show that the Frankfield zone strikes east west and dips slightly to the north on Gowest ground.

Hole 89-3 was drilled on the Gowest property by J. Pat Sheridan group member New Texmont as part of a $400,000 program which has earned the company a 50% working interest.

Frankfield earned an 18% interest in the Gowest claims by contributing $144,000 to the program. New Texmont holds a 48% stake in Intex.

According to Hawkins, the hole was collared at a 68 degrees angle approximately 1,400 ft north of the Gowest/Intex-Frankfield boundary.

As reported (N.M., July 24/89), hole 89-3 was drilled to follow up on results of 12 holes drilled last December.

While results from the December program ranged as low as 0.032 oz across 4 ft to 0.362 oz over 9.3 ft, New Texmont succeeded in establishing a strike length of 1,500 ft and an indicated extension of the ore zone to a depth of 1,000 ft.

Reserve estimates increased to 310,000 tons of grade 0.23 oz to a vertical depth of 250 ft from 191,000 tons of 0.23 oz.

In other news, Frankfield has acquired a 25% stake in approximately 850 claims (in four groups) in the Louvicourt Twp. area where Aur Resources and Societe Miniere Louvem are drilling a promising massive sulphide discov ery.

The claim groups are in Louvicourt Twp., Vauqelin and Tiblemont, Pascalis and Senneville, and Landrienne twps. The remaining interest in the properties is held by Tandem Resources (TSE), North American Rare Metals (TSE) and Ayrex Resources (ASE).
