Halilaga yields long intercepts for Teck and Pilot

The first round of this year’s assays from the Halilaga copper-gold porphyry in Turkey are in and the results are promising.

The drill returned broad intervals of continuous copper-gold mineralization in all holes with highlight intercepts of: 0.64 grams gold and 0.52% copper over 134.9 metres; 0.26 grams gold and 0.23% copper over 194 metres; 0.76 grams gold and 0.60% copper over 35.2 metres and 0.23 grams gold and 0.35% copper over 401.2 metres.

The project in the northwestern section of the country is run as joint venture between Teck Resources (TCK.B, TCK.A-T, TCK-N), which has 60% stake and is the operator and Pilot Gold (PLG-T) which holds the remaining interest.

This year’s drill program got underway at the end of March and aims to both expand and convert current resources into higher categories.

Currently Halilaga’s resource is broken out into a sulphide and oxide zone.

The sulphide zone has indicated resources of 168 million tonnes grading 0.3% copper and 0.31 grams gold for 1.1 billion lbs. of copper and 1.7 million oz. of gold and inferred resources of 198 million tonnes grading 0.23% copper and 0.26 grams gold for 1 billion lbs of copper and 1.7 million oz. of gold.

The oxide zone has inferred resources of 4.9 million tonnes grading 0.08% copper and 0.6 grams gold for 95,000 oz. of gold.

The current drill program has seen eight holes drilled, six of which were infill holes within the defined resource while the remaining two were drilled at least 100 metres from the nearest previously reported drill holes.

Pilot says that all of the holes intersected copper-gold porphyry-style mineralization and that the fundamentals of the deposit continue to improve as it moves forward with ongoing hydrology, geo-technical, and economic studies.
