Harmony drilling shows potential

Initial drill results from the Harmony gold project on the Queen Charlotte Islands, B.C., are confirming the potential for developing high-grade reserves within the known Specogna deposit.

Misty Mountain Gold (VSE) has started a large-diameter core drilling program, with two rigs working on a 20-by-20-metre grid pattern.

Previous work on the deposit (formerly known as Cinola) concentrated on the bulk-tonnage potential and outlined an open-pit zone measuring 31.3 million tonnes grading 2.19 grams per tonne. The deposit is situated on Graham Island.

Historic work was based primarily on vertical holes, and after a review of the drilling data, Misty Mountain determined that the deposit likely contains higher-grade vertical zones that have never been drill-tested.

Misty Mountain’s grid drilling is being carried out on an angle, and the company reports that work to date is confirming the presence of northeasterly-trending swarms of gold-bearing quartz veins.

Recent results include several higher-grade intervals, including: 10 metres grading 18.56 grams gold in hole 95-006; a 2.6-metre interval grading 21.4 grams gold in 95-008; and a 20.6-metre interval grading 10.07 grams gold in 95-009.

Results from the first nine holes of the current program are as follows: HoleIntervalWidthGold
