The anomalies occur along a northeasterly trending fault and cut across the Torrecillas mine and geochemical anomalies to the northeast. A resistivity survey along the fault indicated three circular anomalies in a 7-sq.-km area.
The data are believed to confirm the presence of a porphyry-related gold system — a theory which will be tested by a drill program, beginning in November.
Meanwhile, Hebron has acquired an additional 7 sq. km, increasing its land holdings in the area to 40 sq. km. The company has also requested supplementary permits covering 9 sq. km to the southwest. Among Hebron’s other properties in the region is Salaverry-Copara, a gold-copper prospect.
Vice-President Frederic Dugre says the company is in discussions with major companies for a possible joint venture of the Torrecillas project. “We’re also looking at other projects in southern Peru,” he says. “We feel this area has the makings of a gold-copper porphyry camp.”
