Drilling by Hemlo Gold Mines (TSE) at its joint-venture property 110 km east of Timmins, Ont., has intersected extensions of two known gold zones from the adjacent Holloway property.
Partner Teddy Bear Valley Mines (TSE) has released results from three drill holes on the western strike extension of the Lightning Zone gold deposit, which is being put into production under another joint-venture agreement between Hemlo and Teddy Bear. Two holes tested the structures about 700 metres below surface, and another at about 250 metres.
Drill hole 95-16, west and downdip from the deposit, intersected the Lightning Zone over a core length of 2 metres, with a grade of 3.8 grams gold per tonne, and the subparallel Middle Zone over a length of 4.9 metres running 8.12 grams gold.
Drill hole 95-18, 160 metres west of 95-16, also intersected both zones. The Lightning Zone had a length of 8.6 metres and an average gold grade of 2.89 grams gold, and the Middle Zone was intersected in two separate intervals: 3 metres grading 0.93 gram gold and 4.2 metres grading 1.1 grams. A third hole, 95-17, was drilled
400 metres along strike from the western limit of the Lightning deposit. A 3-metre intersection grading 2.02 grams gold has been correlated with the Lightning Zone, and another, 1.05 grams over 2.5 metres, with the Middle Zone.
Earlier drilling west of the deposit has provided similar results. Hemlo plans more drilling to build up a reserve that can be developed from workings on the adjacent property.
