Project operator Hemlo Gold Mines’ (TSE) has resumed drilling on the Sewell-Reeves gold property southwest of Timmins, Ont.
The property covers a 22-km-long portion of the Destor Porcupine fault zone in Sewell and Reeves twps., and adjoins stratigraphy that is similar to that of the Timmins-Porcupine gold camp.
Last December, the company drilled 12 holes which returned several intersections, including 21 grams gold per tonne over 1.3 metres in hole 94-13; 6.52 grams over 11.9 metres in 94-18; and 20.93 grams over 1 metre in 94-23.
The new program is designed to determine the dip, plunge and strike extent of the existing gold mineralization, as well as identify any new zones along strike. Induced-polarization surveys are under way to define potential drill targets.
Hemlo can earn a 70% interest in the project from joint-venture partners Canadian Golden Dragon Resources (VSE) and Glen Auden Resources (CDN) by spending $1.2 million on exploration by March 12, 1996.
Hemlo acquired an additional 100 claims late last year, and these have been added to the existing 322 claims that form the joint venture.
