Ten holes totalling 550.2 metres were drilled to follow up three gold showings that were exposed in trenches. Mineralization is associated with quartz vein systems traversing northeasterly trending sedimentary host rocks.
At the Dome showing, three holes spaced 7.5 metres apart intersected 8.6 metres averaging 18.46 grams gold per tonne, 7.8 metres grading 4.05 grams and 0.6 metre of 304.8 grams. All are vertically within 15 metres of surface.
Another three holes drilled at the Road showing, 500 metres to the southeast, likewise hit veins within 15 metres of surface. Also collared 7.5 metres apart, the holes returned up to 15.36 grams over 2.7 metres.
Results from the remaining four holes are pending; all were collared 400 metres north of Dome, at the Lotto showing.
Elsewhere on the property, trenching revealed additional showings. Trench 18 exposed 60 metres of greywacke or shale, within which 13 metres averaged 0.9 gram, while trench 19 exposed 30 metres of a separate greywacke horizon, returning more than 8.36 grams in channel samples.
Drilling now under way will test mineralized greywacke-shale horizons west of the Appleton Linear.
The Linear Group claims consist of 1,250 ha overlying sedimentary rocks, predominantly greywacke and shale. All are cut by a prominent northerly trending structure known as the Appleton Linear.
Previous work was limited to prospecting, which led to the discovery of several outcrops of brecciated quartz veining characterized by disseminated pyrite, arsenopyrite and visible gold. The Dome showing was discovered earlier this year and has since been exposed by trenching for 60 metres of strike, along which it averages 10 metres in width.
