Patrick Downey, chief financial officer for Campbell Resources (TSE) and Northgate Exploration (TSE), sold his holdings in the sister companies in late April.
According to the Ontario Securities Commission’s OSC Bulletin, Downey sold 34,000 Campbell shares at 46-52 cents and 12,281 Northgate shares at $1-1.10. Northgate just arranged a deal to sell its 34.5 million shares (34.5%) of Campbell for $29.4 million or 85 cents per share. Chairman John Kearney described Northgate’s sale as “opportunistic;” an attempt to capitalize on gold’s recent rally and clean up its balance sheet at the same time. Campbell traded as high as $1.30 recently.
