INSIDER TRADING — Noranda insiders traded shares

Several senior officers of Noranda (TSE) and its affiliates traded options and common shares in the company over the past few months.

According to the Ontario Securities Commission’s OSC Bulletin, Keith Hendrick, senior officer, sold 213 shares at $24.38 to hold 500 shares, while Klause Konigsmann, senior officer, sold 3,800 shares at $24.12 to hold 4,700 shares. John Martin, senior officer and director of an affiliated company, was granted 1,700 options at $23.62 to hold 3,500 options, and George Penna, senior officer, acquired 275 shares under a plan at $25.60 and exercised 5,500 options at $25.38 to hold 275 shares and 18,500 options. Ronald Rowe, senior officer, was granted 6,500 options at $23.62 to hold 12,500 options.

Other transactions of recent weeks include the following:

* American Gem (TSE) — Gregory Dahl, a director and senior officer who owns more than 10% of the corporation, sold 123,000 shares privately to hold 11.1 million shares. Garfield Last, director, sold 250,000 shares at $3.30 to hold 605,000.

* Barrick Gold (TSE) — Paul Desmarais, director of an affilliated company, was granted 50,000 options exercisable at $34 to hold 50,000 options. Brian Mulroney, director and senior officer, sold 200 shares at $33 to hold 400 shares.

* Bema Gold (TSE) — Erwin Haas, director, exercised options and bought 30,000 shares at 80 cents and sold 30,000 shares at $2.92 to hold no shares. He also sold 30,000 options at 80 cents to hold 30,000 options.

* High River Gold Mines (TSE) — John McKimm, director, sold 12,800 shares at $2.20-$2.65 to hold 8,900 shares.

* International Larder Minerals (CDN) — Brian Murray, director and senior officer, purchased 940,000 shares at 15 cents-20 cents to hold 940,000 shares.

* Northway Explorations (TSE) — Robert Pollock, director, exercised options and acquired 20,000 shares at an undisclosed price and sold 29,000 shares at $1.35-$1.43 to hold no shares.

* Rhonda Mining (ASE) — Peter Gummer, director and senior officer, exercised options and acquired 40,000 shares at $7.375, another 50,000 shares at 25 cents and disposed of 8,300 shares at $3. Gummer also sold 25,000 shares at $2.49 to hold 1,500 shares, and, in addition, was granted 250,000 options at an undisclosed price and sold 50,000 options at 25 cents to hold 250,000 options.

* River Gold Mines (TSE) — Richard Nemis, director, sold 5,000 shares at $2.40 to hold 172,363 shares.

* Vencan Gold (ME) — Kenneth Baird, senior officer, acquired 60,000 shares under a plan at 25 cents to hold 460,000 shares.
