Intex Resources has launched a feasibility study for its Mindoro nickel laterite project in the Philippines.
The Norwegian mining company has enlisted the help of several leading consultants and engineering firms to help get Mindoro closer to production.
For the engineering services contract, the company hired Aker Solutions Australia due to its experience carrying out feasibility studies for large-scale processing plants.
In addition to designing a processing plant that has minimal environmental impact, Aker will also co-ordinate third-party contractors and consultants.
The planned processing facility will use a high-pressure acid-leaching (HPAL) system.
For the metallurgical test work, Intex has signed an agreement with SGS Lakefield.
Around 500 kg of laterite mineralization from the project has already arrived at SGS’s test laboratory in Canada. The testing will establish the production efficiency of HPAL for the project.
Environmental and social studies will be conducted by Golder Associates. The contract also calls on Golder to work with the Philippine authorities to ensure permitting requirements are met.
