Joining James on the board will be Rune Andersson, president of Trelleborg; Kjell Nilsson, executive vice-president, mining and metals, Trelleborg; Hakan Hermansson, senior vice-president, international mining and trading, Trelleborg; Lars-Eric Johansson, senior vice- president and chief financial officer, Falconbridge; Alf Powis, chairman of Noranda; David Kerr, president of Noranda; Keith Hendrick, president of Noranda Minerals; David Bumstead, vice-president planning and employee relations, Noranda Minerals; and Alex Balogh, the new president of Falconbridge.
Balogh, who has been with Noranda for more than 35 years, formerly served as president of Noranda Minerals’ Copper Group. Johansson was formerly vice-president, controller and treasurer of Boliden Minerals, a subsidiary of Trelleborg.
Joining Balogh and Johansson on the Falconbridge executive are John Gillies, senior vp marketing, sales and administration; Michael Knuckey, senior vp exploration; Franklin Pickard, senior vp metallurgical operations and technology; Michael Amsden, vp and general manager Kidd Creek division; Brian Ferguson, vp mining; David Hambley, vp human resources; Michael Parrett, vp controller; E. Anthony Seth, vp general counsel and secretary; Warren Holmes, vp and general manager Sudbury operations; and Robert Bevan, treasurer.
Noranda and Trelleborg teamed up to outbid Amax Inc. of New York this past summer for ownership of Falconbridge.
