Drilling by Canarc Resource (CCM-T) at the Benzdorp property in Suriname has extended the known length of the JQA gold-copper stockwork by a further 100 metres.
Four holes drilled on the eastern extension of the mineralized zone intersected relatively low-grade gold mineralization, while another three holes drilled further to the east intersected unmineralized diorite and andesite. The drilling appears to close off the eastern extension of the zone, and suggests grades may decrease in the area.
Hole BZ03-29 intersected three zones of gold mineralization, 9.1 metres, 6.1 metres, and 10.7 metres in core length. Gold grades in these three zones were in the 0.3-0.4 gram per tonne range.
Three holes about the same distance east of the limit of earlier drilling intersected comparable grades over core lengths ranging from 26 to 50 metres.
Drilling in the JQA area will now concentrate on extending the known mineralization at depth. A program of 25 drill holes is scheduled, mainly testing depths around 250 metres.
In the nearby Roche Kreek area, where a zone of high gold content had been detected in soil surveys, three drill holes did not intersect any significant gold mineralization.
