Airborne geophysical surveys have been completed over claims held by Absolut Resources (ASE) in the vicinity of the nickel-copper-cobalt discovery in Voisey Bay, Labrador.
As a result, 10 separate claim blocks have been identified as containing electromagnetic-magnetic anomalies ranging in length from 300 to 2,000 metres. Furthermore, Absolut hired a Vancouver-based firm to analyze satellite imagery responses from the claims.
This firm detects iron oxides by studying satellite imagery responses from Diamond Field’s known discovery area. The company uses the Diamond Fields gossan signature as a standard for searching for similar signatures.
The survey of Absolut’s ground showed that all of the geophysical anomalies are associated with possible iron oxide outcrops.
In June, one of Absolut’s claim blocks was found to contain gossans, as predicted by the satellite imagery.
Mobilization of crews and equipment is under way, and Absolut expects to start field operations by July 1.
Meanwhile, joint-venture partners United Compass Resources (VSE) and Layfield Resources (VSE) have outlined a strong, magnetic feature following an airborne magnetometer survey on their claims, 40 km northwest of Voisey Bay.
The 5-by-500-metre-wide feature trends east-west across the entire width of the property. The eastern end coincides with a previously reported electromagnetic conductor and may indicate the presence of a dyke-like intrusion.
The joint venture plans to dispatch a field party within the next few weeks to investigate the anomaly further.
Birchwood Ventures (VSE) is earning a 50% interest in a claim block adjacent to the the Layfield-United Compass ground. An airborne survey is now under way over the company’s 17 properties, all of which are under option from NDT Ventures (VSE).
