Minnesota is inviting exploration companies to take another look at the state’s mineral potential.
The 1999 Minnesota Exploration Conference will be held Oct. 7 and 8 in Tower. It will focus on prospects in the Vermilion greenstones of Minnesota, and include geological papers, poster presentations, drill core displays and field trips.
The conference will feature presentations on economic geology and prospects, including the volcanogenic massive sulphide system at Fivemile Lake, Quartz Hill and Eagles Nest. The exploration climate in the state will also be discussed.
James Franklin, former chief scientist of the Canadian Geological Survey, will present a paper titled “Old terrain, new ideas: Can the results of VMS research lead to exploration success in Minnesota?”
