Kalahari cuts gold at Lamaque (December 22, 2003)

Exploration drilling by Kalahari Resources (KLA-V) at the Lamaque property in northwestern Quebec has intersected some high-grade gold mineralization.

Hole SX03-07 tested a down-plunge extension of a granodiorite porphyry on the property, at a vertical depth of around 220 metres. It intersected altered granodiorite porphyry with disseminated pyrite over a core length of 44.5 metres.

Most of the intersection was mineralized, with some visible gold and considerable quartz-tourmaline veining. Among the better intervals in the zone were an 8.1-metre length grading 7.1 grams gold per tonne, which included a higher-grade zone with 14.4 grams per tonne over 2.1 metres.

A deeper intersection ran 11.6 grams per tonne over a length of 1.5 metres, and gold grades in the full 44.5-metre intersection were as high as 41.1 grams per tonne over a 0.3-metre interval.

Mineralization may be a down-plunge extension of the property’s 16 zone. Induced-polarization and magnetic surveys are planned.
