Kangaroo coin top seller in ’91

The Kangaroo Nugget gold bullion coin of Australia was the top-selling gold coin in the world in 1991.

The World Gold Council, an international association of major gold producers, reported that the Australian coin, after less than five years on world markets, beat out the Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin.

The Australian coin increased its market share to 35% last year from 15% in 1990 after introducing legal tender bullion coins containing two ounces, 10 oz. and one kilogram of gold.
