Kirkland holes show continuity at New South

Kirkland Lake Gold (KGI-T, KGI-L) has confirmed earlier results on the New South Zone at the Macassa gold mine near Kirkland Lake, Ont.

The new results tested an area south of the main Macassa workings near the mine’s 5,300-ft level. Seven holes all returned gold mineralization over multiple intervals, with visible gold in all seven holes. The mineralized intervals were anywhere from 19 to 48 feet.

Grades averaged over the full intersection all exceeded 1 oz. per tonne and the holes cut a number of very high-grade intervals over shorter lengths. Among the better intersections were a 9.1 oz.-per-ton average over 36 ft., representing 19.8 ft. true width, and 3.3 oz. per ton over 32.2 ft., or 27.2 ft. true width.

The New South zone has a reserve of 485,000 tons grading 0.74 oz. gold per ton and a measured and indicated resource of 213,000 tons grading 0.68 oz. gold per ton. Definition drilling continues to aid in production planning.
