Diamond drilling by KWG Resources (KWG-T) and 30% partner St. Genevieve Resources (SGV-T) is testing the Douvray-Blondin copper belt in northern Haiti.
The belt was previously tested by the United Nations and other parties, and is estimated to contain 30 million tons of 1.8% copper to a depth of only 300 metres in three related zones.
As most previously drilled holes were not tested for their gold content, KWG and St. Genevieve intend to carry out a 10,000-metre drill program to confirm the copper and gold content of the known deposits.
Since obtaining an exploration permit in May 1994, the partners have reviewed existing data and carried out geophysical work, as well as regional geological and geochemical surveys. Assays are pending from new trenches excavated along 100-metre sections over the three copper deposits.
