LAC cancels expansion plan for Milton quarry

LAC Minerals (TSE) has decided not to proceed with expansion of its limestone aggregates operation at Milton, Ont. The quarry has been a source of revenue for nearly 30 years, but demand from the Toronto construction industry, LAC’s most important customer, has declined over the past year.

Consequently, LAC has withdrawn a 1988 application to redesignate 140 acres around the pit for extraction of mineral resources.

Future land use will be decided between the Niagara Escarpment Commission and LAC.
