A 3-year collective agreement has been signed between Lac Minerals and the United Steelworkers of America local 9019, which represents hourly employees at the Doyon gold mine, in Quebec. Owned equally by Cambior Inc. and Lac, the Doyon mine produced 215,000 oz of gold in 1986.
The agreement provides union members with a cost-of-living allowance, improved pension benefits and a signing bonus, in addition to wage increases in the second and third years.
