Sampling at the Romeo and Juliet gold zones, near Baie Verte, Nfld., has returned high-grade values for NovaGold Resources (TSE).
Grab samples from the property, 1,200 metres northwest of the Pine Cove gold deposit, returned values up to 747 grams gold per tonne gold. Channel samples have yielded assays up to 255 grams over 1 metre.
The samples are from a zone of quartz veining and alteration with a strike length of 300 metres and a width of up to 15 metres.
Results suggest the two zones are part of a larger system with a strike length of at least 1,500 metres and a width of 500 metres.
In addition to the bedrock values, several soil geochemical anomalies have been outlined. Values for these range up to 2,199 parts per billion gold. The company plans to spend $400,000 further evaluating the mineralized zones and anomalous trends.
